The Tiger Lillies

The Tiger Lillies are a three-piece band, formed in 1989 and based in London. They have toured worldwide and won acclaim with their opera Shockheaded Peter.
Their surreal style has been described as dark, darkly humorous, strangely humorous, Brechtian, and gypsy cabaret. They are also notorious for singing controversial songs involving bestiality, prostitution and blasphemy. In 1999 their work was featured in the film Plunkett & Macleane.
The Tiger Lillies were nominated for a Grammy award for their 2003 album The Gorey End, which was a collaboration of sorts with the writer and illustrator Edward Gorey and the Kronos Quartet.

Katatonia

Katatonia are a Swedish death/doom metal trio led by guitarist Blackheim. Their music is never easy to rationalize. How does one describe something so equivocal? Well they are undoubtedly heavy. This heaviness does not come from an obvious place. Their heaviness is more from the structure of the songs & the arduous but reassuring vocal. Think of the darkness generated by the likes of Nick Drake, Will Oldham or PJ Harvey. Katatonia sound nothing like these artists but they do share a similar vision, an effortless flow & simple but personal lyrics.

Isis

Isis was a Los Angeles, California-based band, founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997. They borrowed from and helped to evolve a sound pioneered by the likes of Neurosis and Godflesh, creating heavy music consisting primarily of lengthy songs that focus on repetition and evolution of structure and texture. As such, a great range of musical labels are used to describe their sound, including sludge metal and post-metal.

Yasushi Yoshida

Born November 1978 in Osaka .Writes, produces and performs music focusing on piano and guitar arrangements. Not content with working solely within the music scene, Yasushi Yoshida has contributed material to areas as diverse as theatre and visual arts. Collaborations include Yoko Higashino's solo dance performance and Oi-Scale theatre company's "Michigaere Sekai". On the live end, he has performed with many established local as well as international artists such as Nagisa nite, Ramo Nakajima, kicell, piana, Pan American, Her Space Holiday and Arab Strap.

Sopor Aeternus

Officially founded in 1989, the Germany based Sopor Aeternus is one of the very few dark groups/projects in Europe (in fact, on this planet), who have based the trinity of their music, poetry and visual appearance on the explicit emphasis of the highly individual expression of pain, isolation, depression, token suicides and the desperate search for the »sacred reunion«; all acted out by their sole protagonist – the trans gendered Anna Varney Cantodea.

Ludovico Einaudi

Ludovico Einaudi is an Italian contemporary music composer and pianist. His phenomenal CD sales and ability to sell out major concert halls worldwide are confirmation that Einaudi is one of classical music’s success stories of recent years. His music is ambient, meditative and often introspective, drawing on minimalism, world music and contemporary pop. He has made a significant impact in the film world, with four international awards to his name.

Silencer

Silencer was a Swedish suicidal black metal band formed in 1995. They released one album Death - Pierce Me before splitting up. The album had a major impact on the Swedish underground scene at the time, and arguably helped certain bands in the scene to form. The band has been the subject of much controversy, mainly because of several allegations made against their vocalist Nattramn, who was supposedly institutionalized shortly after the album was released, thus forcing the band to split up.

Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós  is an Icelandic post-rock band with melodic, classical, and minimalist elements. The band is known for its ethereal sound, and frontman Jónsi Birgisson's falsetto vocals and use of bowed guitar. In January 2010, the band announced that they will be on hiatus until further notice in order to pursue solo careers and to spend time with their families.

Ulcerate

ULCERATE is a progressive death metal act formed in 2000 in Auckland, New Zealand. They released demos in 2003 and 2004 before releasing their 2007 debut full-length studio album "Of Fracture and Failure." Before releasing their debut album they released the "The Coming of Genocide" compilation album which features both demos on one album. The band have released their second full-length album "Everything Is Fire" in 2009.
ULCERATE play brutal and pretty chaotic death metal with deep guttural growling vocals, but their music is rather unusual for the genre with dissonant riffing and challenging technical playing. Their second album "Everything Is Fire" slightly touches post metal territory in addition to their trademark brand of progressive death metal. References to an act like GORGUTS and their 1998 Obscura album are obvious.

Deathspell Omega

Deathspell Omega are a French black metal band. Their lyrical content deals primarily with Satanism on a metaphysical level – as the band has stated that "all other interpretations of Satan are intellectually invalid" – and other various theological topics. They have recently completed a series of three concept albums which focus on the theological aspects of God, Satan and man's relationship with the two. Some of their lyrical inspiration has come from the post-surrealist Georges Bataille.
